Our Butterfly Room is a large room which has free flow access to resources to provide plenty of room for young children to explore and mix together learning through play. As the children in the room progress, children grow in self-confidence, building on their learning and independence. They are encouraged to build positive relationships with their peers and follow our golden rules.
In this room children have a slightly more structured routine to their day whilst learning through a wide range of fun activities and experiences planned for their continued learning and development. We feel that all areas of learning are important, we incorporate the three prime areas; Personal, Social, Emotional development, Communication and language and Physical development. We also build into our practice the specific areas of learning – Literacy, Maths, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
The pre-school children follow regular activities in small groups that help support their transitioning into reception class at school. We have excellent links with Meadgate School and all the local schools, and lots of transition activities take place throughout the pre-school year and we aim to work closely with you as parents during this important time. We know how big this step is for children and try to support them as much as we can so they have an understanding of what Reception is like.
